The Iowa Area Development Group established the Iowa Venture Award in 1988. Over the past 25 years, nearly 200 organizations have been recognized for their significant contributions to Iowa's economy through entrepreneurial leadership, innovation and the creation of job opportunities.

Special Venture Awards have been presented in the categories of "Outstanding Business of the Year," "Distinguished Leadership" and "Value-Added Agriculture."

2016 Venture Award

 Photo above showcases employees from Maassen Dairy Farms, staff of North West REC, and representatives from Iowa Area Development Group (IADG).

The Iowa Area Development Group (IADG) honored Maassen Dairy Farms with an Iowa Venture Award.

For 5 generations, members of the Maassen family have been raising animals and crops on land near Maurice, Iowa.  Maassen Dairy is owned and managed by Lee and his sons Aaron, Adam, and Stefan.  They continue to upgrade their milking parlor, expand their barns, and are currently milking about 1,350 cows.  They also raise all the calved born on the farm and grow crops on about 1,000 acres.  The Maassen's have adopted new technologies and management practices over the years to make their cows more comfortable and make the farm safer and more efficient for themselves and employees.  They are committed to sustainability throughout their operation, and their manure and nutrient management systems are state-of-the-art.  Maassen Dairy Farms was nominated for this award by North West Rural Electric Cooperative.  Pictured right to left: Doug Becker, Scott Feuerhelm. 2014 Venture Award

2009 Venture Award

Platinum Ethanol, of Arthur, Iowa, received the 2009 "Outstanding Business of the Year" Venture Award in recognition of outstanding business achievement in Iowa. Iowa USDA Rural Development Director, Bill Menner, presented the award on behalf of the Iowa Area Development Group L.C., (IADG). Rand Fisher, IADG President, said, "The company's new Iowa facility is testament to vision, innovation, and courage. Platinum Ethanol investors and this project are helping Iowa continue to lead the nation in alternative fuel production and greater energy independence and security for our country."
