Commercial, Industrial and Value-Added Agriculture Rebates
North West REC encourages businesses in the efficient use of electricity in all energy applications. As an incentive to our commercial, industrial and value-added agriculture customers, NWREC offers energy efficiency rebates on the installation of qualifying energy efficient lighting and motor load installations.

No form is needed for ASHPs, GSHPs, and Mini-Split Heat Pumps units simply submit copies of the invoice for the rebated equipment to North West REC, and a representative for North West REC will inspect the installation prior to the rebate being paid to verify that it has been installed and is operating

Variable-Speed Motors and Soft-Start Devices
More than half of all electrical energy consumed in the U.S. is used by electric motors. Improving the efficiency of electric motors and the equipment they drive can save energy, reduce operating costs and improve our nation's productivity. We encourage our members to make energy efficiency a major consideration when purchasing motors.
As an incentive to our customers, North West REC offers a rebate for new variable-speed energy efficient motors installed in a commercial, industrial or value-added agriculture building that is served by North West REC.
Soft-start devices installed on an existing motor which is installed in a commercial, industrial or value-added agriculture building served by North West REC also qualify for a rebate. (The rebate amount is based on the horsepower of the motor that the soft-start device is connected to.) Seasonal applications are not eligible. There is a maximum rebate of $5,000 per motor.

Lighting and Motor rebate programs will run until an allotted amount of monies runs out. Please call before submitting a rebate to make sure there is money available

Federal Tax Credit In 2023 the Energy Efficiency Property Tax Credit (residential credit) for GHPs is 22% of total installation cost. Find more information about eligibility and find Federal Form 5695 on the Internal Revenue website.

- Residential
- if back up heat is electric $700 new/replacement load
- if no back up heat or if back up heat is propane or gas $500 new/replacement load
- Maximum rebate limit of 30% of cost up to $10,000
- Rebate limited to two units per single family dwelling or outbuilding
- Commercial/Industrial/Ag Projects
- If back up heat is electric $800 per ton - new load/$400 per ton for replacements
- If no back up heat or if back up heat is propane or gas $400 per ton - new load/$200 per ton for replacements
- Maximum rebate limit of 30% of cost up to $75,000
- Limit of one rebate for each leasable hotel room

Electric Vehicle Chargers
Electric Vehicle Chargers - For new level 2 chargers only
Residential/Commercial: up to $1000 toward cost of charger and installation, rebate cannot exceed invoice amount
Hybrid Vehicles - Maximum rebate of $750
- Level 2 charge 208-240 volt
- Must be hardwired and installation must meet local code
- Member required to provide charger make, model, s/n, specifications
- Cannot back-feed into the system
- Sub Meter and Load Control Switch are REQUIRED for rebate
- Limit of 1 rebate per electric vehicle
Insulation Rebate
Building Insulation Rebate
Details:
- The building must be all electric as the primary heating source with electric backup
- Insulation must be professionally installed for blown-in, AeroSheild insulating concrete forms, rigid Styrofoam panels and/or structural insulated panel type insulation
- Residential- rebate is limited to 30% of installed insulation cost up to a maximum rebate of $800 per building per calendar year.
- Commercial/Industrial/Ag buildings-rebate limited to 10% of installed insulation cost up to a maximum rebate of $2,000 per building per calendar year
To receive your rebate, download the Insulation Rebate Form, fill it out and return the completed form to North West REC.
Program requirements
- Person or business making the rebate request must be a member-owner of North West REC and the equipment needs to be installed on the North West REC electric system
- All equipment must be new to qualify for a rebate
- The rebate does not apply for seasonal loads
- No form is needed, simply submit copies of the invoice for the rebated equipment to North West REC, and a representative for North West REC will inspect the installation prior to the rebate being paid to verify that it has been installed and is operating
- North West REC reserves the right to modify or terminate this program at any time without notice.
