Praire Winds Energy

North West REC  offers Wind Energy through our primary power supplier, Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative (NIPCO). NIPCO has a relationship with their primary power supplier, Basin Electric Power Cooperative to support Green Energy production to their members.

North West REC began offering the Prairie Winds green energy program in 2002. It allows our members to voluntarily contribute to the development of alternate energy production facilities such as wind energy. You are not purchasing this alternate power directly, but participating in the development of the power.

The price for a contribution toward a block of 100 kilowatt hours (kWhs) has been reduced to $.20. When this program started, the price was $3.00 per block of 100 kWhs. Your fee for each block of 100-kilowatt hours is $.20. If you are interested in participating in this program complete the information below and return it to our office. You will be committed for a
one-year term and then continue on an annual basis, allowing you to make changes in your commitment by your number of blocks or if you wish to discontinue the program.
